Weaving saddle blankets in the Navajo (Dine) tradition is my particular area of interest. I teach two warping methods and weave with traditional churro wool. These blankets make ideal wall hangings or floor coverings. I find my inspiration in the historical patterns woven by Dine weavers of the 19th century and early 20th century.
I do not sell my work. I strongly encourage anyone interested in acquiring a true Navajo rug or tapestry to contact Dine weavers directly. Weaving in the Navajo method is not just a way of making cloth or textiles; it is a form of cultural artistic expression.
Other Weaving Traditions …
I also weave various textiles (throws, table runners) on a Louët Spring parallel countermarch floor loom and create decorative bands on the backstrap looms.
Weaving is a transformative and meditative endeavor … I invite you to come spend some time learning the beauty of weaving.
